Supports pro bono and volunteer efforts: The Foundation awards the annual Caufield Award to an attorney or judge who has made a significant charitable contribution to the community.
Awards scholarships: The Foundation offers financial assistance to students pursuing careers in justice and the law and endeavors to foster the next generation of legal professionals.
Fosters professional development: Through Foundation backed programs and initiatives the Foundation and its committees work towards enhancing legal practice, ethics and public service to the community.
Adoption Day Bears
The Foundation provides Adoption day bears to those children appearing in Court to finalize an adoption. Adoption is the happiest law to practice but to the children the court room experience may be a bit overwhelming. The Foundation is dedicated to making the day just a little less scary. Each family is provided with a soft furry friend to hold and squeeze as the process unfolds. The room is full of smiles as the Judge formalizes the legal status of the family. This event has been funded over the last many years by a generous donation made originally by DeloreWhite of Pilgrim title and which is now carried on by her daughter, Joyce Kirschner. It has become a regular event for the foundation each year and one we hope to be able to continue for many years to come.
Scholarships
The Bar Foundation awards scholarships each year to seniors who are graduating from High School and pursuing a career in the law and to first year law students who are continuing their studies. Some of the scholarships are in honor of National Law Day, a Federal commemoration of those who serve the Justice System, or to honor a former member of the Judiciary for his or her service. For more information on the scholarship programs please see that page on this website.
